How do I make a Reels cover image?
Choose a photo or a video frame, adjust the title, colors and placement, then save a 1080×1920 PNG or JPG. This is ToolTava’s output size, not a guarantee that every platform surface shows the full image.

Make a titled cover from a video frame
- Open a video, pause at a suitable frame and apply it.
- Add a short title with a color that contrasts with the background.
- Check title placement inside the 3:4 guide and save as PNG.

How it works
Output is 1080×1920px (9:16). Photos fill the canvas without changing proportions, cropping excess edges. Adjust zoom and position. Long titles shrink to fit the text area.
Common questions
Where is my draft stored?
In IndexedDB in this browser, including the image and title settings. It restores in the same browser, without cross-device sync. Clearing site data or private browsing can remove it.
Is the crop guide an exact Instagram preview?
No. It illustrates a centered 3:4 crop. Actual display varies by placement and app version. Guides are excluded from downloads.
What are the file limits?
PNG, JPG and WebP photos up to 20MB; videos up to 100MB with a browser-supported codec. Source images are stored with a maximum long edge of 2560px. Enlarging small images does not restore missing detail.
Which fonts and transparency are supported?
Sans, serif and monospace use fonts available on your device, so appearance can vary. Transparent photo areas become white.
Does PNG export preserve the original transparency and image quality?
No. Before editing, the background is flattened onto white and converted to JPEG. Images with a longest side above 2560px are reduced proportionally: for example, 4000×3000px becomes 2560×1920px. PNG export uses this processed background; it cannot restore transparency or lost detail. Keep your original file separately.
Is the entire video saved for my next visit?
No. After you capture a frame, that still image and your editing settings are saved in the current browser. Load the original video again to choose another scene. Storage failure or clearing site data can prevent restoration. Downloaded PNG and JPG files are finished images with text flattened into them, not editable project files.
What if a long title cannot be exported?
Shorten the title or adjust line breaks. The tool shrinks long titles but stops export if the text still cannot fit.
How do I keep a face from being cropped?
Adjust the background position and zoom. A landscape photo can lose its sides when filling a portrait canvas; a portrait source is easier to frame.
